The Oklahoma SAFE team have put together a list of activities both in-class and virtual to give you some ideas. Please feel free to use these and adjust them to fit your needs.

Announcements & PSAs

Morning Announcement Messages and Statistics
SAFE Program Specialist can provide samples of potential messaging for schools to utilize, with an emphasis on key traffic safety awareness months.

Social Media

Follow OK SAFE on social media for up to date announcements and traffic safety messaging to share! You may also create your own social media messaging and tag OK SAFE.

Additionally, SAFE Program Specialist will provide a variety of post-ready social media messages to SAFE schools to promote their efforts on their local accounts. You can also create your own messages. Be sure to tag OK Safe!

Classroom Activities

Mock Trial
Mock trial provides general awareness for students about consequences from drunk driving. Download the sample script.

Traffic Safety Guest Speaker
You can find guest speaks by visiting ThinkFirst Speakers or Arrive Alive Tour.

Watch and Discuss Safety Videos
Students may utilize the videos found on the resources page to be used for class discussions.

Seatbelt Fire Drill
Seatbelt fire drills are a fun game that can be used to remind students that everyone in a vehicle needs to buckle up. Students compete to see who can transition between all seats in a vehicle, buckle and unbuckle.

Partner with local law enforcement, emergency management systems groups to show the aftermath of a crash.

Students develop messaging around their schools to raise awareness about seatbelt use and distracted driving.
