SAFE Program – Law Enforcement

The Oklahoma Highway Safety Office and the OK SAFE Program will host a two-week seatbelt enforcement emphasis beginning March 25, 2024 through April 5, 2024  targeting teen drivers and their occupants.

Overview

We are asking you to assign an officer to patrol around your high school approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of school and 30 minutes immediately following the school day.
  • This enforcement emphasis is designed to be done on a routine regular patrol.
  • It only takes about an hour a day, once a week (two hours in two weeks) to make an impact.

How You Can Help:

This is the 9th year law enforcement agencies in Oklahoma will participate in the OK SAFE seatbelt enforcement emphasis. In an effort to increase seatbelt compliance, we are asking you to target the area around your high school. Any person not properly restrained should be issued a citation.
